What do I need to rent a car in Mauritius?
A valid driving licence held for at least 1 year, your passport, and a credit or debit card in the main driver's name. Drivers must be 21 or over. A young driver surcharge may apply under 25.
Can I drive with my UK licence?
Yes. A valid national licence held for at least a year is accepted. An International Driving Permit is only recommended for licences not printed in English or French.
Which side of the road do they drive on?
The left, the same as in the UK.
Can I pick up the car at the airport?
Yes. You're met in the arrivals hall at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU). Hotel and villa delivery is also available anywhere on the island.
What if my flight is delayed?
Add your flight number when you book and your reservation is held without penalty.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. Cancel at least 48 hours before your pickup time for a full refund or free rescheduling.
Is insurance included?
Third-party insurance and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) are included. An excess applies unless you choose zero-excess cover when booking. A refundable security deposit is authorised on your card at collection.
